Last month, City of Prospect distributed a letter to Village Heart property and business owners, seeking views on the operation and potential expansion of the Village Heart Marketing Fund.
City of Prospect introduced the Village Heart Marketing Fund (separate rate) in Prospect Village Heart / High Street Policy Area in July 2017. The program is built on a $99 separate rate for all 105 properties in the Prospect Road Village Heart precinct. As such the program has approximately $10,000 to promote the Village Heart through the Prospect Road brand and attract more visitors and shoppers to Prospect Road.
The fund develops a business plan each year and is guided by a local committee of businesses including Palace Nova Cinemas. Council collects the funds from business through a separate rate each year and administers the fund.
The fund has successfully won the 2018 Mainstreet SA Marketing Award for the digital marketing campaign.
The campaign has been built on great partnerships with local businesses:
- Palace Nova Cinemas – Film Premiere
38 local businesses participated the ‘Ladies in Black’ Premiere film event. Local businesses set up stalls in the foyer and participated in cross-promotion. The event successfully sold out two cinemas.
- Channel 44 – Digital Marketing Campaign
Short promotional videos were filmed in local businesses and promoted on social media. The campaign successfully resulted in over 42,000 views in 2018. The committee and City of Prospect staff are currently administering a new 2019 video campaign.
- Christmas on Prospect Campaign
Multiple businesses participated in the Christmas on Prospect campaign, by providing prizes for the 12 Days of Giveaways.
Council is seeking to increase the fund to approximately $15,000 in the 2019/20 financial year, to partially offset the cost of administering the program. In order to do so, the separate rate would increase from $99 to $150 per property.
Council is currently considering its Draft Annual Business Plan and Budget 2019/20, therefore we are seeking your feedback by the 30 May 2019. You will be able to provide feedback to the whole plan via City of Prospect’s website in May 2019. A newsletter will be distributed to the entire City of Prospect business mailing list the week starting 6 May 2019.
