Prospect Road Autumn Fair - Network Prospect

Prospect Road Autumn Fair

With the support of Network Prospect, Blackfriars will host the Prospect Road Autumn Fair on Sunday 15 March, 11am-4pm, on the picturesque front lawns of the school at 17 Prospect Road.

Last year’s Prospect Road Autumn Fair attracted 1,000 visitors (head-to-head with the AFLW Grand Final) in what is purposely designed to be a community friend-raising event rather than a school fundraiser. In keeping with that theme we are inviting locals businesses and community groups, active in the City of Prospect (and surrounds) to attend at no cost, other than that associated with a small marquee / table / chairs. If you have your own – GREAT! – we’ll provide you with some space. If you require a small (3x3m) marquee, we will put you in touch with Chris Malone at Affordable Marquees who will assist you with this for around $120 (including setup).

This year’s fair is a little earlier in the year to tie in with the closing weekend of the Adelaide Fringe, capitalise (hopefully!) on some warmer weather and avoid clashes with the first week of the SANFL season and any major events at Adelaide Oval.

The event has already been promoted throughout our Blackfriars community for the past six months and we will commence an extensive promotional campaign when school returns at the end of January.  This will centre around social media targeting the suburbs surrounding the school and a letterbox drop in February distributed to 35,000 homes in the Prospect, Walkerville, Charles Sturt and Port Adelaide / Enfield local government areas. We also have electronic billboards booked to promote the day at the top or Port Road (Brompton), North Adelaide (Caledonian Hotel), Medindie (Scottie’s Corner) and Gepps Cross.

On your display, you are welcome to be as interactive or as static as you like. If you plan to have something for sale, please let us know what that is so that we can ensure its suitability. You may wish to offer a promotional service on the day to attract new customers or engage with current clients.

The Blackfriars Old Scholars Football Club will operate a licensed bar on the day, the Old Scholars Soccer Club will run the BBQ (supported by Schinella’s Market) and our Parents + Friends Association have cold drinks and sweets covered.  Families from our school’s Vietnamese and Afghan community will also have food stalls.  There will be a small market square area with a variety of goods / crafts for sale and rides and activities for younger visitors including a roving circus troupe.

We do have a stage available on the day under the trees in front of the main St Catharine’s building in front of the school. If your group would like to enquire about a display or performance on the stage, please contact us so that we can allocate you a 30 minute time-slot. These will be taken up quite quickly so your early attention would be appreciated to avoid disappointment. It could be a musical act, dance performance, cultural display, etc.

For sporting clubs, we’d love to see you run a demonstration of your sport and will allocate an area on the lawns for this. Please let us know if this is something you’d like to do to encourage new players or engage with old ones!!!!

All we require from you for your participation is a copy of your Public Liability Insurance Certificate of Currency.

To register your interest in being part of the Prospect Road Autumn Fair in 2020, please contact any of the team in the Blackfriars Development Office from Monday 13 January so that we can confirm your involvement. We’re also happy for you to pass this invitation on to anyone in your network that might be interested in being part of the day.

We’d love to have you join us again in 2020 to celebrate our Community in the heart of Prospect!

The event is being organised and hosted by Blackfriars with support from Network Prospect. Places are limited so to register your interest or learn more, please contact Patrick Kelly at Blackfriars Priory School during school hours on 8169 3966 or email or
