New cinema lights up Prospect in premiere opening event
There was action aplenty when the Palace Nova Cinema group officially unveiled its new theatre on Prospect Road recently. Attended by Premier Jay Weatherill, who opened the new building, short speeches were also given by builder Steve Maras from the Maras Group and Lisa Stewart, publicity and marketing manager for Palace Nova. The large crowd of invited guests were treated to drinks outside on Rose Street, before heading inside to enjoy burlesque and dance performances by a troupe of wonderful young entertainers channelling a roaring 1920’s vibe. An array of fine foods was provided by local restaurants and cafes, including Schinella’s, Meze Mazi and Muratti’s and new businesses 50sixone and New Nordic, located in the cinema complex. Cocktails flowed as locals and dignitaries mingled in the cool, welcoming atmosphere of the city’s newest venue, and agreed that, like the movie title, a star is born – one which will burn brightly for Prospect’s nightlife.
