New development supports local economy

City of Prospect and Network Prospect are thrilled to see the Maras Group Development coming to life on Prospect Road. The new development will house a number of fresh tenancies, introducing a range of new jobs; building on employment opportunities created during the development’s construction.

City of Prospect and Network Prospect are committed to supporting new small businesses and the local economy. The new businesses will be directly supporting our long term goals towards increased night-time activation and footfall on Prospect Road.

City of Prospect has completed the streetscape improvements on Prospect Road and Rose Street, surrounding the development in conjunction with the Maras Group. This collaboration has encouraged businesses to implement outdoor trading, growing trading beyond their four walls.

50SIXONE was the first business to open, with a free milkshake frenzy that took place last Saturday, 25th November. The business will be employing 35 staff.

Long awaited cinemas, Palace Nova Cinemas, will be opening to the public from 7 December. Information will be made available through their Facebook Page. We are collaborating with Palace Nova Prospect to keep the community informed about screenings in the opening weeks.

“Palace Nova Prospect Cinema is pleased to be supporting business growth and job creation in the City of Prospect,” says Palace Nova’s Marketing & Publicity Manager, Lisa Stewart. “Our new cinema has already employed over 25 staff in range of areas across the business. As the business grows, so will our capacity to employ more people and create career pathways for the future.”

Scandinavian restaurant, New Nordic will also be opening in December, employing 30 staff.

Anchovy Bandit will be opening in late 2017/early 2018. The business will be employing approximately 8 full time equivalent roles, according to Oliver Brown, Director of NOLA Adelaide and Anchovy Bandit.

Other businesses including Jiro Sushi Train and Soonta will be opening on the ground floor. Stay tuned as Network Prospect will keep you updated as more information rolls in.

City of Prospect will continue to collaborate with these businesses, as they are contributing to significant growth in the area. According to an Economic Impact Assessment, completed by Hudson Howells in April 2016, when the Maras Group Development is fully operational the project will support an estimated additional 470 full time jobs. This includes “411 jobs associated with office, cinema and retail outlets and $5 million of GSP per annum”.. (“employment associated with expenditure by visitors to the cinemas is expected to be 49 FTEs per annum with a contribution to Gross State Product of $5 million per annum.”). This provides an indication of the significant role the development will play in supporting the local economy.

Details and information about employment opportunities can be found online or on their respective social media channels.
