Terry Howe Printing Services Awarded for Outstanding Voluntary Contribution
At City of Prospect’s National Volunteer Week Event on Friday 25 May the Community Services Local Business Award was presented to Terry Howe Printing Services for their outstanding voluntary contribution to the community. They were proudly nominated for their generous support to various local sporting and service clubs including their generous sponsorship of the Prospect Gallery’s Biennial Portrait prize. They support charities such as Little Heroes Foundation, Flinders Medical Foundation and the Believe Foundation.
In celebration of the City of Prospect Local Business Award, we spoke to Terry Howe, of Terry Howe Printing Services.
Network Prospect: When did you locate your business to Churchill Road, Prospect?
Terry: May 2014
Network Prospect: Why did you decide to do business in City of Prospect?
Terry: Living in Johns Road Prospect 1989 until 2001; rented a building at 224 Prospect Road, Prospect from 1993 till 2001, where we relocated to 317 Prospect Road Blair Athol until May 2014.
Network Prospect: How many people do you employ?
Terry: 10 permanent people as well as casuals and contractors.
Network Prospect: What is your business’ point of difference?
Terry: Providing complete in-house offset printing, digital printing service, design service, and wide format print and signage manufacturing. We also offer promotional products from clothing to golf balls; USBs to umbrellas.
Network Prospect: How are you supporting local artists? What is the significance of this contribution to your organisation?
Terry: We have supported artists with their prints, be it on canvas, art paper, or card, and we are available to assist in all aspects of print advice.
Network Prospect: Which local sporting and service clubs do you support?
-North Adelaide Football Club for the Past 10 years
-Black Friars Old Scholars Football and Soccer Clubs
-Eagles Lacrosse , Prospect Cricket Club
-Fitzroy Football Club , Greenacres Football Club
Network Prospect: How is Terry Howe Printing Services environmentally conscious?
-Sustainable Level 2 Green Print
-Recycling all waste in the correct manner , all offset inks are soy vegetable based
-Regular collection service with correct separation of waste
-We also run factory with 130 solar panels – over 600 square meters of roof space.
Network Prospect: How is your organisation supporting local businesses?
Terry: By offering prompt service, advice, and support. Also by covering a complete range of all print requirements at competitive price and without compromise to quality.
Network Prospect: Can you tell us about the charities your organisation supports?
Terry: We have supported various charities over the years, such as:
-Little Heroes Foundation for 15 years – Print and Slowdown Sponsor
-Variety SA Children’s Charity for 5 years – Print and Signage Sponsor, Big Bash, 4WD and Bike Ride Sponsor
-Believe Foundation for 8 years – Print and Signage Donation
-Muscular Dystrophy Association – Donate Printing and Signage for Big Red Ride and Run
-Grow National Australia
-Adelaide United Football Club
-and most recently SAJC, Morphettville Race Course.
Network Prospect: What has your experience been like contributing to these groups?
Terry: We get huge satisfaction in supporting people, knowing that money is getting to the areas required. Terry Howe Printing Services does not have sales people, most of our work is through clients due to our great customer service and products.
Network Prospect: What advice do you have for other business owners who would like to help the community?
Terry: As we approach 25 years in business, I personally have always treated our clients with respect and honesty; whether it’s a small business starting out or large corporate company. Also to maintain loyalty with your staff and trust their decision making. Where possible, be ahead of the game: all industry is competitive, be in control of your risk-taking and capital growth.
